Types of Transcripts

We provide three different types of standard transcription:

  • Verbatim Transcription - This is actually the most difficult kind of transcription to both read and transcribe.  Every word, every false start to a sentence, every “uh,” “you know,” and stutter is transcribed faithfully.  This type of transcript is rarely requested.
  • Semi-Verbatim Transcription - Phrasing and sentence structure is exact, but stutters and false starts are cleaned up in the transcribed document, simply making it easier to read.  This is what our clients request most often.

  • Edited Transcription - This is the type of transcription most often requested in conjunction with interview transcription for authors.  Real people, as we all know, do not speak in concise, grammatically-correct sentences.  Capturing the flavor of what a person actually said, while still producing a document that is publication-ready, is an art form - and we’re good at it.  This allows the author to merely cut and paste quotes, etc., into his or her article or book.

Focus Groups

A-Plus Transcripts has developed unique ways of constructing transcripts to make them easier to read and easier to locate data.  Of course, we provide these at no additional cost.

  • Focus Group Tracking of Respondents – When the moderator calls the respondent by name, we are able to label the respondents’ names throughout the transcript.  When the moderator does not call them by name, we label them as “Male” and “Female.”  This enables the client to clearly identify which respondent made which comments throughout the transcript.
  • Transcript Outlined According to Your Guide – When transcribing your focus groups, we follow along with your Moderator’s Focus Group Guide, inserting the headers from your guide in the transcript at the appropriate points.  This enables the person reading the transcript to easily locate a specific comment and/or question in the transcript.  This service is provided for both focus groups and IDIs.
  • Transcripts Combined Into One Document - When transcribing multiple interviews for the same project, we can combine all of the transcripts into one final document.  This allows you to find all of the information in one location.

Turnaround Times

Standard Turnaround

For our Standard Turnaround Service, depending on the size of your project, most projects can be completed in 3-4 business days from the time we receive it.  If you have a larger project, 15+ hours, it can probably be completed in 5-6 business days.  We will e-mail you the transcripts as they are completed, with the last one being e-mailed to you on the final due date.  For larger projects, 20+ hours, please call to check our schedule for turnaround times.

Rush Turnaround

For our Rush Turnaround Service, most projects under eight hours can be completed in 1-2 business days from the time we receive it.  For all Rush Turnaround Services, please call to check our schedule for exact turnaround times.

Proofreading

Your writing is often the first or only means of contact between you and your boss, customers, teachers, clients, and coworkers.  Consequently, many people view the quality of your writing as a gauge of your intelligence, work ethic, and ability.  Therefore, your writing must be proofread or edited to ensure it is clear, error free, and projects a professional image.

We provide comprehensive proofreading and editing services, which cover all aspects of grammar and readability.

  • Typographical Errors
  • Grammatical Mistakes
  • Run-On Sentences
  • Punctuation and Quotation Marks
  • Subject-Verb Disagreements
  • Sentence Fragments and Lengths
  • Spelling
  • Apostrophes
  • Comma Usage and Splices
  • Capitalization

Audio Files/Other Mediums

In this digital age, we can and do offer our transcription services to clients from all over the world.  They send us their audio files, and we return the transcribed Word document attached to an e-mail.  It really is that simple.

If your audio file is too large to send to us via e-mail and you don’t have a server to upload the file to us, we provide one to you.  We provide you with a link and temporary username and password for our online server, and you simply upload your audio files.

If you don’t have audio files, that’s okay too.  We can also transcribe from just about any medium, including cassette, microcassette, DVD, VHS, CD, and MP3.  We have transcribed from other mediums over the years.  If you have one that’s not listed, just call us to see if it’s compatible with our software.

Formatting

A-Plus Transcripts has a standard format in Word that we use for our transcripts.  However, if you have a specific format/software that you want your transcripts done in, we can accommodate that too.

Other Transcription Services

A-Plus Transcripts specializes in Market Research.  However, with over 10 years in the transcription business, we can transcribe anything that may need to have written documentation – mock juries, research publications, insurance, real estate, legal, business meetings, conference calls, media, publishing, law enforcement, press briefings, lectures, radio shows, panel discussions, and seminars.  We offer high-quality transcripts with a fast turnaround time and always format to your specifications.
